Diagnostic
Services
A
wide range of procedures are available to aid in the accurate evaluation
of patients, including:
- Radiography
- AVSARC is equipped with a state-of-the-art radiography suite enabling
detailed radiographic examination of all pets from the smallest
kitten to the largest dog.
- Fluoroscopy
– this technique allows “real-time” evaluation
of many functional problems, including swallowing disorders, regurgitation
and structural airway disease.
- Endoscopy
- diagnosis of a myriad of internal problems affecting dogs and
cats is greatly assisted by the use of video-endoscopes which allow
the surgeon to directly examine many previously inaccessible parts
of the anatomy, without the need for invasive surgery.
- Sonography
- AVSARC houses a sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound suite, which
enables detailed imaging of soft tissue structures throughout the
body. Colour Doppler assessment of heart function and investigation
of tendon disease can also be performed in this unit.
- Electrodiagnostics
– electoretinography (retinal evaluation in visually impaired
patients), electrocardiography (assessment of the electrical activity
of the heart) and electromyography (nerve/muscle investigation)
are all performed at the centre.
- Pathology
services – both “in-house” and specialist
laboratory facilities are available.
