Penny Tisdall
BSc(Vet), BVSc, MVetClinStuds, FACVSc
Penny graduated from the University of Sydney with a BSc(Vet) for studies on portosystemic shunts in Maltese and Australian Cattle dogs in 1992 and with a BVSc in 1994. After working for several years in private small animal practice in western Sydney she returned to the University of Sydney to complete a Small Animal Surgical Residency starting in 1997. She obtained Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2002 by examination and is a registered Small Animal Surgical specialist. |

Andrew Carter
BVSc (Hons), Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology
Dr Andrew Carter graduated in 1987 from Melbourne University Veterinary School. Upon graduating he worked as a small animal veterinarian in Adelaide before travelling to the United Kingdom. While practicing in Essex and London he completed his Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology. He then commenced specialist dermatology training at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies of the University of Edinburgh, completing his training in September 2001. He then returned to Adelaide to establish a referral dermatology service in his home town. In July 2003 he was awarded a Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. |

Dr
David Davies
BSc, BVMS (Hons), FACVSc (Canine Medicine)
David graduated with first class honours from Murdoch University in 1992 and then worked in private practice in Adelaide and the UK for eight years. In 1998 he was awarded Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Small Animal Medicine, receiving the Chapter medal as the best-performed candidate that year. His three-year period of specialist training at Murdoch University in Perth also included time at Massey University, New Zealand and the Royal Veterinary College, London. David returned home to Adelaide in November 2002 to establish an internal medicine referral service and attained Fellowship of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Canine Medicine in July 2004.

Tony Read
BVSc (Hons), DVOphthal (RCVS), Diplomate ECVO, FACVSc (Ophthal), FRCVS
Tony
Read is a graduate of the University of Sydney Veterinary School. After several years in mixed general practice in Tasmania and
New South Wales. Dr Read commenced specialising in Veterinary
Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom. He completed a residency
training program at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket and then
ran a referral service in Wimbledon, London. Dr
Read returned to Australia in 1996 to establish Veterinary Ophthalmic
Referrals in his home town of Adelaide. He has British, European
and Australian specialist qualifications in Veterinary Ophthalmology. |

Jackie
Jackie
began working for Dr Read in 1998 and has been employed
at the Adelaide Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre
since it opened in 2000. She previously worked in general
veterinary practice and for the Adelaide Animal Emergency
Centre. She completed her veterinary nurse training through
the Gilles Plains TAFE College. She is a mother of two and
the family has a Labrador, a Kelpie and a Burmese cat. |

Yvette
Yvette began working for Dr Douglas in 2000 and has been
at the Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre since it
opened. She previously worked in general veterinary practice
and for the Adelaide Animal Emergency Centre and completed
her veterinary nurse training through the Gilles Plains
TAFE College. She owns a Bull Mastiff named "Bindy", a Rottweiler,
"Joda" (thankfully complete with tail!), and a cats "Aerial". |

Sarah
joined the Centre's nursing team late in 2001. She was previously
a theatre nurse at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary
Science (IMVS). Sarah has a menagerie of pets at home! |

Donna
joined the AVSARC staff in early 2005. She previously worked
in general practice and completed her training as a veterinary
nurse at Gilles Plaines TAFE College. She shares her home
with her husband and their two “children”; "Cooper" the
Bernese Mountain Dog and "Wilbur" the cat. |

Receptionists |

Kerry
Kerry joined the Adelaide Veterinary Specialist and Referral
Centre in 2001 as our first receptionist. She had previously
worked as a receptionist in general veterinary practice.
Kerry has two teenage sons and her interests are football,
cricket and gardening. She is a fan of fine food and sparkling
wines. |
