The Adelaide Veterinary Emergency Centre requires highly motivated, experienced veterinary nurses for part time and casual positions within a rotating roster. Successful applicants will be a cheerful team worker who possesses the confidence to work efficiently on their own.
Part time positions would be approximately 15-20+ hours a week. Casual positions would suit vet nurses returning to work, or vet nurses who want to further expand their skills in addition to a ‘normal’ day vet nurse job. Locum nurses are also encouraged to enquire regarding availability of work.
The roster encompasses evening & night duties and weekend/public holiday shifts, as well as extra shifts covering the busy periods and annual leave of the permanent staff.
Duties include general and intensive care nursing of both emergency and hospitalised specialist patients. In addition, you will also be involved in a hands on clinical position assisting the veterinary surgeon with anaesthesia, surgery and clinical procedures. You will therefore gain extensive experience from a varied and interesting case load. AVEC nurses take an active part in the clinical evaluation and treatment of their patients, so your nursing skills will be utilised to their full potential.
Continued professional development is actively encouraged, and the opportunity to further study for your Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (Emergency & Critical Care) is also available for qualified nurses.
Opportunities to work within the Adelaide Veterinary Specialist & Referral Centre nursing team from time to time are also available to AVEC nurses if desired.
Remuneration is above average.
